Allegiance - Book Review

Allegiance (Penton Legacy #4)
by Susannah Sandlin

What is it about:
British vampire psychiatrist and former mercenary Cage Reynolds returns to Penton, Alabama, looking for a permanent home. The town has been ravaged by the ongoing vampire war and the shortage of untainted human blood, and now the vampires and humans that make up the Omega Force are trying to rebuild. Cage hopes to help the cause, put down roots in Penton, and resolve his relationship with Melissa Calvert. The last thing he expects is an attraction to Robin Ashton, a trash-talking eagle shape-shifter and new Omega recruit.

Meanwhile, as a dangerous saboteur wreaks havoc in Penton, the ruthless Vampire Tribunal leader Matthias Ludlam has been freed on the eve of his scheduled execution. But by whom? And to what end? As war and chaos rage on, love is the last thing Cage is looking for, but will his attraction to Robin distract him from the danger living among them?

What did I think of it:
This is such a great series.

Next to each book having a stand alone romance, there's an overall action storyline that runs through this series.

And thing are getting more and more tense with each book!

I really liked Cage when he appeared earlier in the series, but wasn't too happy he seemed to connect with Melissa. I am not a big fan of Melissa. So I was very happy when in Allegiance Robin turned up, and she set her eyes on Cage.

Robin and Cage make a great couple: they spark! I loved reading how they got to know each other. Robin is a really fun character overall btw. I liked how she stands her ground no matter what, and even takes on Mirren, who is one scary vampire.

The action storyline was also really intense. I thought things were at their worst after Omega, but I was wrong. More nastiness is headed towards Penton and at times things looked very, very grim. And although the romantic storyline got resolved, the events in this book leave Penton with some serious problems the vampires and their allies have to overcome.

You can bet I will keep an eye out for the next book in this series, because I need to know what's next for Penton.

Why should you read it:
It's a really cool Paranormal Romance with lots of action.

I read Allegiance last Tuesday and am still going over the events in my head. Intense is right. Not a whole lot left in Penton. Aidan has a lot of work ahead of him to fix the mess it is in. Love Robin in this story. Thanks for your review.
