What is it about:
The Zombie Apocalypse has been good to Sarah and David. Their marriage is better than ever. They communicate well, share responsibilities, and now, they're starting a business. ZombieBusters-for all your zombie extermination needs.

There are lots of zombies and that means lots of customers...Except one of them doesn't want the zombies dead, he wants them alive and ready for experimentation. Mad scientists make for difficult clients and this time, Sarah and David might have bitten off more than they can chew.

What did I think of it:
Another fun story, full of zombie goodness!

This book did feel a bit more serious than the first book though. Don't get me wrong, it has plenty of funny moments and enough zombie mayhem to satisfy even me, but the overall feel was a bit more intense than I had thought it would be. Not that this is a negative thing, I really enjoyed the story and love Sarah and David even more after finishing this book (David is my favourite of the two I'll confess). And as with every good zombie book, there's only one truly negative point: I finished it much too soon! Now I'll have to try to get my trotters on the next book in this series as I'm addicted ;-)

I already finished this book, but wanted to share some zombie goodness.

The zombie lurched out of the bushes, oblivious to the fact that some of the hard, dead branches had stuck in his legs and now tore loose and stayed in his flesh like weird porcupine quills as he walked. If it wasn't so gross, it would have been pretty comical.

Follow My Lead - Book Review by Voodoo Bride

Follow My Lead by Kate Noble

What is it about:
Being the most sought-after bachelor in London can be trying. Jason Cummings, Duke of Rayne, should know. But when he winds up an unwilling escort to the headstrong Winnifred Crane on a trip across Europe, he realizes he'll do anything to keep this independent beauty safe-even if it means marrying her.

What did Voodoo Bride think of it:

I must say I was surprised by this Historical Romance.
I'm used to there being a whirlwind romance after the instant attraction when the hero and heroine first meet. In this story however the attraction that grows between the lead characters is a slow, but steady thing. It is build step by step while Jason and Winnifred travel Europe and find themselves falling from one adventure into the next.
It was different and rather sweet I must say.

The villain of this story however is just as much a cardboard villain as in most Historical Romances that feature a villain, but as his presence is needed to send Jason and Winnifred on their journey, which is hilarious, daunting and above all very entertaining to read, I will not judge too harshly.

So, while this book wasn't what I expected, I did enjoy it and I will probably try other books by Noble in the future.

Why should you read it:
It's a sweet, adventure-filled Historical Romance

Black Wings - Book Review

What is it about:

It's probably just a coincidence that as soon as he moves in demons appear on the front lawn. But when an unholy monster is unleashed upon the streets of Chicago, Maddy discovers powers she never knew she possessed. Powers linked to a family legacy of tarnished halos.

Powers that place her directly between the light of Heaven and the fires of Hell...

What did I think of it:
I'm in two minds about this book. It's nicely written, has cool characters (especially Beezle, the gargoyle), an interesting setting and an even more intriguing mythology attached to it. Still the story felt off to me. There were some incongruities that bugged me and besides that the whole set up felt too big. Too many things came popping up too close together. I'd have liked this story better if some things were left a mystery, only to be revealed in a future book. Still, I liked it enough to give this series another chance and read book two, if only to see where Henry will take the story next after the big things that happened in this book.

Why should you read it:
It's a nice UF read and it has a gargoyle.

What did me and Voodoo Bride think of it:
A nice start of what could be a cool series.
The story is suspenseful and full of action and the romance is hot according to Voodoo Bride. I liked Jessie: she's a no nonsense kind of woman who takes action when needed. The writing is decent and I loved the world building and setting. My one negative point is that Handeland used some obvious tricks to try to make the story even more suspenseful, but because they were so obvious they only managed to annoy me. Apart from that, this book is an enjoyable Paranormal Romance and we'll probably pick up more books in this series in the future.

Why should you read it:
It's got werewolves and romance.

Storm's Heart - Book Review by Voodoo Bride

What did Voodoo Bride think of it:
I'm not doing this often, but I just have to let out a fan-girlish squeee about Tiago! I was already intrigued by Tiago when he was mentioned in Dragon Bound, but I hadn't expected him to be so extremely cool as he turned out to be in this book.

With a character like Tiago the story could have been utterly craptacular and I would still have enjoyed myself, but luckily it wasn't only Tiago that made this book. I had feared the story would be too political minded for my tastes, but it turned out to be really suspenseful and dramatic and very well written. Besides Tiago and Niniane there were lots of other really interesting and fun characters and I'm already looking forward to reading more about some of them in future books.

I must say I enjoyed this book even more than I did enjoy Dragon Bound, which is largely because I could really relate with both lead characters in Storm's Heart, where in Dragon Bound I was a bit unsure about Pia. All in all this is a wonderful read and I'm so going to read more books in this series!
