Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab #1) by Karen Chance
What is it about:
Dorina Basarab is a dhampir—half-human, half-vampire. Unlike most dhampirs, though, Dory has managed to maintain her sanity. Now Dory’s vampire father has come to her for help— again. Her Uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), cruelest among vampires, has escaped his prison. And her father wants Dory to work with gorgeous master vampire Louis-Cesare to put him back there.
Although Dory prefers to work alone, Dracula is the only thing that truly scares her—and when she has to face him, she’ll take all the help she can get...
What did I think of it:
A very cool, actionpacked story. I love almost everything about it: world building, characters, storytelling and writing. Dorina is one hard boiled, bitchy heroine, but she's just flawed and vulnerable enough to understand and forgive most of her hardness. Which leaves me with the only negative thing in this story: the interaction between her and Louis-Cesare which was just a bit too strained and unfriendly in my opinion. And as much as I loved this story overall it is this which keeps me from picking up the next book in this series.
Why should you read it:
It's a well written, kick-ass story with vampires.

I thought teh relationship between Dory and Louis-Cesare is more realistic is Death's Daughter - but the story is worth reading the next book! Have you read teh Cassie Palmer books - fast paced action as well! :)
YAY! glad you enjoyed it! I love this spin-off!
