Immunity (Contagion #2)
by Erin Bowman
What is it about:
They thought their nightmare was over, but Thea, Coen, and Nova’s rescue was only the beginning. After being imprisoned on a ship they thought was their ticket to safety, it’s clear that the threat they left behind isn’t as distant as they’d hoped—and this time the entire galaxy is at risk.
Now that threat is about to be unleashed as an act of political warfare. To prevent an interstellar catastrophe, the survivors must harness the evil they faced on the planet Achlys and learn to wield the only weapon they have left: themselves.
What did I think of it:
I absolutely loved Contagion (which was pitched as Alien meets Outbreak and rightly so) so I preordered Immunity as soon as it was possible.
And this is a cool read, but I didn't love it as much as Contagion. Now this is not surprising as Immunity is more about Coen, Thea, and Nova being used for nefarious plans and how they deal with it than it is full on mayhem and horror like Contagion was. Still this is an engaging read and I was invested from the start.
Later on in the book there is some more action and mayhem, but mostly this is a suspenseful story instead of horror. I especially liked Nova's storyline, but the things happening to Coen and Thea were really intriguing as well.
All in all this duology is really cool and worth reading and rereading.
Why should you read it:
It's a really suspenseful YA SF read.
