A Love Soul Deep - Book Review by Voodoo Bride

A Love Soul Deep (Mystique Antiques)
by Amber Scott

ebook, novella

What is it about:
Since Sara's boyfriend Crew died in an accident a few years ago Sara hasn't been able to get over him. She can't stop thinking she hasn't been able to tell him all she would have wanted to say to him and wishes she had the chance to be with him just one more time. Then she gets a gold locket that may make her wish come true...

What did Voodoo Bride think of it:
This is a beautiful and bittersweet lovestory that made me cry, smile and sigh.

The idea of getting a second chance at love, at getting back together with someone who was torn away by death, is both beautiful and scary. What if your memories are wrong? What if you still don't know what to say?

I could really feel for Sara: her love for Crew and the loss she felt were heartbreaking to read. I could only hope that she would find happiness again and that the fulfillment of her deepest wish would bring her all she was hoping for.

All in all this is an emotional and romantic story that stays with you long after you finished reading.

Why should you read it:
It's a beautiful story about the power of love.

What did Voodoo Bride think of it:
A suspenseful and romantic story.

Scott creates a dark and dangerous world where men turn into wolves and spirits walk among us. Grant is a grim hero, but the heroine, Leigh, is more than his match and the developing relationship between them is a joy to read. The tension between them is intense and at times really hot. The action storyline is suspenseful and full of emotion as well. There are quite some twist and turns and I was on the edge of my seat, rooting for Grant and Leigh to not only find love, but to save the day and catch the bad guys.

I hope Scott will keep writing paranormal romance, because I love her settings and her characters. And I hope she writes a sequel to this story as well.

Why should you read it:
It's a paranormal romance with wolves and ghosts.

Voodoo Bride's Author Love - Amber Scott (+ giveaway)

Amber Scott is an author I met online while stalking another one of our favourite authors. Amber had an interview up on her blog with that author and the interview was so entertaining I hung around after reading the interview and found out Amber's blog was a fun and friendly place to be.

As the stories that Amber had written sounded like they were of the contemporary romance kind and I'm not too fond of most contemporaries I didn't read them at first, but after lurking and commenting on her blog for awhile and discovering what a fun and cool person Amber is, I decided I should give one of her novellas a try. I picked The Best Revenge an erotic novella where the lead character decides to get back at her cheating boyfriend by seducing his best friend. And I was so glad I gave Amber's writing a try! The Best Revenge is a fun, sexy and hot read!

The next book I read was Play Fling another contemporary romance although with a bit of paranormal mixed into it. And I discovered that I actually really liked contemporary romance if it was written in the fun and delightful way Amber writes her stories.

But Amber doesn't stop at writing just contemporary romance.

Another great read is Love Lust, a wonderful erotic paranormal novella.

And Fierce Dawn, a paranormal romance filled with magical creatures, handsome (winged) men and suspense.

What I admire about Amber's writing is how she makes characters come alive and makes them likeable or despicable depending on their actions and view of the world, but above all she makes them believable and human (even the not so human characters).

So all in all Amber Scott is an author I admire both for her personality and for the amazing books and stories she writes.

And today I got the opportunity to actually share my love for Amber's writing with you all!

Amber is competing today in Menage A Blog with two other authors for getting the most people to support them.

What does this mean for you?

1 - Everyone who comments on this post gets a free ebook by Amber Scott
(your choice among Amber's indie titles)

2 - If you go over to Amber's blog and leave a comment to cheer her on at the Menage A Blog post which will be posted somewhere today (july 18th) you could even win a Kindle!

How awesome is that!

So go over to Amber's site and the Menage a Blog site and pick your side in this battle of the authors! (Amber is the best I can tell you ;-) and get a free ebook along the way!

----------

You might be a paranormal junkie if...

1. When you see a full moon, you listen for a lonely howl.

2. For Halloween, you dress as a zombie since you’re already a witch.

3. You’ve been known to ask to be nibbled on the neck.

4. Your neighbor mentions thinking they have a ghost and you get jealous.

5. For your birthday, instead of cake, you ask for candles and set them up for an impromptu seance.

6. In your home, the Oija board goes next to the scrying mirror, NOT next to Monopoly.

7. You sneak glitter into the body lotion hoping your significant other will sparkle in sunlight.

8. You’d rather honeymoon at Stonehenge, but Transylvania might do, too.

9. Until your real magic wand cooperates, the TV remote control shaped like one will have to suffice.

10. Next to a glowing moon, fang marks sound like the coolest tattoo ever. All you have to do is decide—neck? Or inner thigh?

Kipp McGowan, a cop with the Memphis Police Department, uses his ghostly charms to gain her attention and forces her to expose herself to his partner.

As she’s pulled into the five year old cold case of Hannah Reid she wants no part of, she finds herself in more than one precarious situation. But that’s the least of her worries―Tess begins to have a serious problem on her hands. Kipp might be dead, but he’s drop-dead gorgeous and she’s beginning to forget that he’s a ghost.

Murder and corruption has brought Tess and Kipp together. But as her feelings for Kipp deepen, she suspects she just signed herself up for a one-way ticket to the nut house, and can only hope, straitjackets come in a size four.

Love Lust - A Book Review by Voodoo Bride

Love Lust by Amber Scott
(novella)

What is it about:
Liv Starr craves...and dreads love. Her succubus hunger demands more than human lust for satiation, requiring love, as well. But long-term lust will enslave a human, annihilating who they are, condemning Liv to a perpetual cycle of loss. Meeting—needing—Justin Sharpe puts far more than her heart at risk. Her very existence, too.

What did Voodoo Bride think of it:
I adore this novella. It's hot, steamy and romantic. Be adviced it's an erotic story, so not for younger readers or those who do not want some smutty goodness in their romances. It's a fast, enjoyable read that leaves you hungry for more. Luckily the world building and background of Liv are done very well for such a short story (120 pages) and they leave plenty of options for much more stories with other characters who are mentioned in this story, so that's what I'm hoping for.

Why should you read it:
It's an enjoyable steamy romance with a succubus!

Play Fling - a Book Review by Voodoo Bride

Play Fling by Amber Scott

What is it about:
Face Your Target... Brooke Munkle didn't leave a lukewarm marriage just to flounce into the first hot bed. Too young, too hot, Elliott Jovovich has no business distracting her from starting over. If only he'd get out of her fantasies. Maybe if she keeps things simple, she can allow herself one naughty indulgence. After all, who will know? Pull The String... Elliott sees through Brooke's stiff facade. Underneath her struggle to hold it all together, a vibrant, wanton woman is waiting to be freed. To win her heart, he'll play by her rules, which would be a a lot easier if her hostile best friend didn't fight so dirty. Sure, he has ammo of his own, but what he knows could hurt Brooke. Steady. Aim. Release... Millie Match isn't sure what she did to deserve this matchmaking hell. The sneaking around, the spying, compatibility issues, chemistry crises. Her target, Brooke, is keeping secrets. Elliott is definitely Mr. Wrong. And if Millie doesn't make true love magic now, she'll lose the one thing in this punishment worth fighting for.

What did Voodoo Bride think of it:
First I have to confess I almost never read contemporary romances. In fact I got this prejudice that contemporary romances are boring. But having read Scott's novella 'The Best Revenge' which was a great read and hearing about the unusual concept in 'Play Fling' of a cupid trying to match two people, I was eager to try it.

And let me tell you: It is a delightful read and makes me reconsider my policy of staying away from contemporary romances. Scott's writing style is best described as vibrant. The characters in Play Fling feel alive and most are likeable even when some of them are clearly making the wrong choices. Miss (Millie) Match does her name proud: her matchmaking attempts lead to some weird and funny situations, but as it is a romance you do not have to fear the outcome ofcourse. All in all I loved this book and I will most certainly read the next Millie book once it's released.

Why should you read it:
It's a great romantic read.
