Yes, I know, I've been very irregular in my blogging here, but Cyberpunk 2077 still has me in its grasp. I did read some short stories and even a whole novel though.

What did I think of it:

This short story is a very satisfying read.

Brooks can set up and deliver a story in just 22 pages. This one is fantastical and atmospheric. I really need to pick up more by Brooks.

What did I think of it:

In 2019 I read All I Want for Christmas is a Werewolf, and I enjoyed it so much I had to get this one as well.

And this is yet another fun Paranormal romance that's not just for Christmas.

I was hooked from the start and was invested in Merri finding out what was going on at Cozy studios, and to get together with Seth. The two of them start working together and before they know it they're in over their heads.

All in all a very enjoyable read. I hope Brooks keeps them coming.

Liana Brooks - Two Quick Reviews

 I was looking for Liana Brooks' All I Want for Christmas is a Reaper when I saw these two short stories by her. I just had to give them a try.

Level Nine by Liana Brooks

What is it about: 

Andrea plays the Game—a massive, interstellar, virtual reality experience—as often as she can. And she plays well. Really well. 

…Well, she cheats, actually, which she feels ambivalent about to be honest. 

Except on Level Nine. Because no matter how hard she tries, Level Ten remains out of reach… until a wholesome newcomer arrives. 

A light-hearted, feel-good story about the power of online gaming to bring people together. 

What did I think of it:

This 25 page short story is a fun and quick read. I very much enjoyed the characters and the setting. I wouldn't mind if Brooks would write a longer story in this setting.

Not Quite Cinderella by Liana Brooks

What is it about:

The king announces a ball in order to end the war. His subjects? Overjoyed.

Marian? Determined to stop it. Her sponsors need the war to continue.

Looks like sabotage will feature at the top of tonight’s menu.

A Cinderella retelling for everyone who ever wondered why Cinderella wanted to marry the prince in the first place.

What did I think of it:

Another short, but satisfying story.

I admire how Brooks set up and delivers an intriguing story in just 27 pages.

I will definitely try more of the short stories by Brooks as well as other stories in this series.

Why should you read them:

They're short fun reads for when you need a quick book fix.

All I Want For Christmas Is A Werewolf

What is it about:
Del hates Christmas. As a child, she spent too many Decembers on the streets after her parents abandoned her. As an adult, the enforced family focus, the clients who see the holidays as an excuse to get gropey, and the mistletoe her well-meaning colleague Maureen hung over her work desk just seals the deal: December sucks.

If only it could stay Halloween for a couple of months instead. Del loves the excuse to slay monsters, the spooky atmosphere—and of course, the werewolves. Because everyone knows werewolves make the best lovers... Pity they’re not real.

This Paranormal Christmas Romance is cute, fluffy, and fun!

I fell in love with Del from the start (and not just because she loves zombies and Zombies, Run!) and rooted for her to get on top of things and to get her Happy Christmas Ever After.

I also really liked Maureen, even with her meddling and gossiping, and let's not forget Rafael of course. He's totally awesome.

At about 180 pages this is a quick and very enjoyable read that will get you in the mood for Christmas. You bet I'll reread and that I'll read more by Brooks.
