Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about. I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had. I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player—and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol. Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble. My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Four days. I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.

At least, that’s the plan. And we all know what happens to those.

What did Olivia think of it:
A friend recommended this author to us when we asked for fun Contemporary Romance, so I decided to try a book. After some investigating I picked Four Day Fling because the fake boyfriend trope can be fun.

And this is such a fun read!

Poppy has convinced herself she's a klutz who can't do anything right. She may end up in weird situations t times, still she is competent when it counts. Adam is used to women wanting to date him because of his fame, so he is immediately charmed by the clueless Poppy. The both of them try to survive the wedding party while slowly falling in love with each other.

Even though you totally know Poppy and Adam will fall completely for each other I couldn't put this book down once I started it, because I wanted to be there for the hilarious and delicious ride to their Happily Ever After.

I can advice this book to everyone looking for a fun and uncomplicated Contemporary Romance. I will most certainly read more by Hart.

Why should you read it:
It's a very enjoyable Contemporary Romance.

Once Ghosted, Twice Shy (Reluctant Royals #2.5)

What is it about:
While her boss the prince was busy wooing his betrothed, Likotsi had her own love affair after swiping right on a dating app. But her romance had ended in heartbreak, and now, back in NYC again, she’s determined to rediscover her joy—so of course she runs into the woman who broke her heart.

When Likotsi and Fabiola meet again on a stalled subway train months later, Fab asks for just one cup of tea. Likotsi, hoping to know why she was unceremoniously dumped, agrees. Tea and food soon leads to them exploring the city together, and their past, with Fab slowly revealing why she let Likotsi go, and both of them wondering if they can turn this second chance into a happily ever after.

What did Olivia think of it:
We loved the first two books in the Reluctant Royals series, so I had to get my trotters on this novella about Likotsi.

And this is a beautiful and sweet story about second chances.

The story is told switching between the present and the past. Slowly we learn about the passionate few days Likotsi and Fabiola shared in the past, what drove them apart, and how they try to discover if they can fix the broken pieces.

I already loved Likotsi after reading A Princess in Theory and I soon fell for Fabiola as well. I could understand the hurt Likotsi felt, but learning more about Fabiola I could also understand why Fabiola ghosted Likotsi as she did. I rooted for the both of them to find the way back to each other and to be able to build a future together.

All in all this is a lovely and sweet novella. I read it as an ebook, but must most certainly get hold of a print copy to add it to our collection.

What did Olivia think of it:
This book was recommended by Jeffe Kennedy, who thought we might like the hero, as he is more of a villain than a hero.

I will confess I was hooked after reading the dedication:
"This is for everyone who ever fell hopelessly in love with...
the Villain."

Yup, that's totally me! I can clearly remember the time when we were watching a movie, and I leaned over to Sullivan, and said: I think I know who the villain is. His reply: Yeah, because you like him.

And Val is indeed a delicious villain. He's vain, doesn't care about most others, is unapologetic, and a schemer. I loved him from the start. Bridget on the other hand is on the side of Good, and follows the rules of society. Spying on Val to get back the papers Val is using to blackmail her birth mother is as far as she'll go. But then he notices her, she gets under his spell, and a satisfying romance begins.

I love that Val is intrigued by Bridget's spying and instead of just firing her starts playing games with her to see if he can get under her skin. I loved their interactions, the clear attraction, and Bridget's attempts to 'save' the man she is falling in love with.

As the story progresses you discover some about Val's past, and you learn more about what makes him tick. It was so good to see that Hoyt didn't make this a story of redemption, but instead let's Val stay the person he is: he just learns to work around the rules Bridget thinks he should follow if he wants her to stay in his life. There is character growth, but it's in both of them.

There is a more dramatic storyline, but overall this book is fun, sexy, and delightful. I had a great time with this romance and you can be sure I'll be reading more of Hoyt's books. I've already investigated which ones sounded the most fun.

Why should you read it:
It's has the most delicious villain and he doesn't die!
